Whether you are searching for a business, service or place, your task has just been made easier and quicker by HyperMaps! Just follow the steps below.

Searching for a type of business, service or place within a certain location.

Method 1
In the homepage, click on the drop down menus in the bar labelled 'Quicksearch' (see Diagram 1 to the right).

Select a region and/or a category from the menu. Hit the [GO!] button.

Scroll the map that pops up with the navigation controls and zoom in and out to different scales with the zoom controls (see Diagram 2).

When you have centred your search area on the map, look at the dot icons that are overlaid on the actual map.

Move your mouse pointer over the dot icon and information on the business or service will pop up automatically. Left clicking on the dot icon will bring up further information and contact details about the business or service.

Method 2
In the homepage, click on the 'Search by locality' button in the box labelled 'search the HyperMaps index' (see Diagram 3 - you may have to scroll the screen down a little to find this box).

In the screen that appears, click on the letter of the name of the place you are looking for (town, suburb, etc.). You will be transported to a new screen with a listing of all places beginning with the letter you selected. Left click on the town or suburb you are looking for.

You will then see a map of the region you selected. At this stage, follow the steps in Method 1 above to locate the business or service you are looking for. Clicking on the icon representing the business or service you were looking for will bring up its contact details.

Searching for a specific business, service or place by name:

In the homepage, click on the 'Search by name' button in the box labelled 'search the HyperMaps index' (see Diagram 3 - you may have to scroll the screen down a little to find this box).

In the screen that appears, click on the letter of the name of the business or service you are looking for. You will be transported to a new screen with a listing of all businesses and / or services beginning with the letter you selected. Left click on the name you are looking for.

You will then see a map of the area immediately surrounding the business or service venue you selected.

HyperMaps is a Web Portal

HyperMaps includes web links to many quality websites.

These include:

• National Trust
• Parks Victoria
• Tourism Victoria
• Zoological Parks and Gardens Board
• CitySearch
• Wines of Australia

as well as many other content providers and individual websites.

Currently there are over 2000 web links within the HyperMaps database, and we are adding more every month!

HyperMaps is not limited to including just businesses which have website links. We can provide location links and contact details for any type of business, tourist attraction, commercial organization, or retail outlet, regardless of whether it includes a website, or email address. All that is required is a geographical location and contact details !

Our aim is to provide a comprehensive map-based directory listing of all business and tourism sites, and provide contact details to easily connect the customer with the business.

Diagram 2 (above): Use the Navigation Controls to scroll the map. The Zoom Controls adjust the map's magnification. In this example, the mouse has been moved over the icon representing Restaurants in Brighton to the bottom. Clicking on the icon will then bring up an enlarged map of this area. The 'Current Coordinates' section at the bottom of the map indicates the longitude and latitude of the location that the mouse pointer is currently over.
